2020 Houston Open

2020 Houston Open

Our first pick for outright winners this week is Doc Redman 50-1. Last year Lanto Griffin broke onto the scene for his first PGA Tour win of his career at the Houston Open. Lanto was 45-1 last year and Doc at 50-1 this year feels like too much value to pass up. Doc was leading after 54 holes at the Bermuda Championship last week and the Clemson product has three top 5s in his last 6 events. Yes, he did miss two cuts over that time but we're picking winners here and on a course that not too many players have seen I'll take the guy riding high on recent form. We can all agree he will break through with a win soon on the tour so why not this week?

Tyrrell Hatton 16-1 is our second pick to win this week. Tyrrell has been playing lights out since the restart of the season. He is 3rd in this week's field in total strokes gained over the last 50 rounds. I don't usually bet guys at this low of odds but with no course history I'm sticking with my recent form bias this week. Tyrrell has SIX top tens in his last 12 events on the PGA Tour not including his win overseas at the BMW championship during "Hoodie Gate". I'm riding with the hoodie this week.

Our final pick of the week is Cameron Davis 70-1. Cameron Davis ranks out really well in the stat model for the Houston Open. I expect him to be a very popular play on Draftkings. Similar to Doc, Cameron is seeking out his 1st PGA tour win. He has gained 5.3 strokes total over his last five events and his game is in top form. He's made the cut over his last 6 events and has 4 top 30s over that span. At 70-1 the odds are too big to pass on the Aussie.
